Over 50 Slain in Nationwide Bloodletting
More than 50 Iraqis were killed or found dead in a bloody and indiscriminate spasm of violence Wednesday.
In an apparently sectarian attack, at least 12 Iraqi youths were killed when two bombs exploded while they were playing soccer in a predominately Shiite district of western Baghdad.
Earlier Wednesday, three Iraqis died and nine were wounded when a bomb hidden in a garbage bag detonated in central Baghdad. The blast took place near central Baghdad's Tayaran Square where day laborers routinely gather in the early morning hours in the hopes of finding work.
Just south of the capital in Suwayrah, meanwhile, authorities discovered 11 corpses, many showing signs of torture.
